Many people found out that Szczecin is worth visiting during their stay in this city, and some of them still have to discover its charms.
However, Szczecin with its Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, Chrobry Embankments or many green and flower-filled parks from spring to autumn is not the only place worth visiting in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Attractions in the vicinity of Szczecin During your stay in Szczecin, it pays to take your own or rented car and go around the city. And the list of attractions in Szczecin is really long and its next points may interest tourists of all ages, singles, couples and entire families with children. You can start from Police with the ruins of a synthetic fuel factory as part of a visit to the Historical Museum. Many souvenirs related to the history of the region here. There are also numerous historic churches, the ruins of the Augustinian monastery, 19th-century tenement houses and the town hall from the early 20th century, and the Lapidarium - a souvenir of old German cemeteries. Tourists are also eager to visit Trzebież, which is a holiday complex on the Szczecin Lagoon, or Nowe Warpno: a town on a peninsula, rich in places for sunbathing and walking routes. Interesting for the whole family may be the Center of Slavs and Vikings in Wolin or a dendrological garden with a collection of unique tree species in Przelewice. Of course, from Szczecin it is only about 100 km to Międzyzdroje with the Wolin National Park, with a museum, a show farm and numerous walking routes, including the famous Star Promenade, pier, miniature park and the museum of wax figures. A similar distance separates Szczecin from Świnoujście, where there is one of the most beautiful beaches in our country, a lighthouse and an observation tower.
Sunbathing? Yes it is possible! Contrary to popular belief ... Szczecin is not situated by the sea. The city is 100 km away from the sea, but when you decide to vacation in Szczecin, you can also experience a bit of sea bathing, or at least walk on the beach and breathe the air filled with iodine. People who count on peace and quiet, even in high season, can go to less fashionable and at the same time interesting places, with a small number of tourists. We can recommend Pogorzelica with a moderately crowded beach. However, if sunbathing is not enough, you can go to the towns popular among tourists, such as Rewal or Pobierowo. There is also Wisełka with a beautiful sandy beach, which you can reach through the Wolin National Park. It is a place where there are no crowds and you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, and at the same time there is a place to eat and drink coffee. You can also set off from here to the already mentioned Międzyzdroje or Świnoujście, to Lubin, to the Turquoise Lake in Wapnica. A long but interesting trip may also include visiting Kamień Pomorski.
A paradise for fishermen and lovers of water madness. Those who are fond of fishing, also in the vicinity of Szczecin, will quickly find themselves and enjoy their stay. The Szczecin Lagoon is considered to be the richest fishery in Poland in species. You can catch almost all species of carp fish here, but also numerous predators: perch, pike perch, burbot, catfish, pike, sea trout and salmon. There are also species such as whitefish or tusk, and you can also try to catch an eel. Zalew Szczeciński, especially in the vicinity of Czarnocin, is an ideal place for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Shallow waters and western winds make the stay by the lagoon attractive and quite safe.
