Szczecin by bike - routes and attractions

Beautiful blue sky, sun, warm wind and high temperature is an opportunity to explore Szczecin and its surroundings on bikes. In the city you can rent a bike as part of the city system or in a private rental, so whoever visited the city without their two wheels - nothing is lost. Instead of lounging in the hotel bed (although sometimes you need to rest in this way), you can explore the city and its surroundings in a very active way. Here are some routes in the vicinity of Szczecin that are worth visiting after we cycle the entire city by bike.
Tours around Szczecin A trip around Arkonka is a short, easy route, ideal for people with shameful condition or for families with small children. The route is full of trees, you drive mainly on a smooth surface, you can use a swimming pool, buy ice cream along the way. The only downside to the route is crowds, especially on weekends and sunny holiday afternoons. Short routes outside the city The rally around Głębokie is also a short route, but with bumps along the way. Sometimes there is sand, instead of asphalt or trampled ground. However, the views and the possibility of swimming in the lake will compensate for these inconveniences. If the condition allows it, the route around Arkonka can be combined with the one around Głębokie. Szczecin - Stobno - Kołbaskowo is a longer route, but on a flat surface. Most of the difficulties can be encountered when leaving the city. To the reserve "" Świdwie "" - the route starts in Tanowo, at first along the asphalt road, then along a dirt road to the bridge over the Gunica River. You get here to the Świdwie lake. Here, in the rushes, you can observe rare species of birds, and the lake itself is a reserve with an ornithological station. The two-way route is approximately 15 km long. Longer routes around Szczecin Szczecin - Penkun. The picturesque town of Penkun is located near the border with Germany. While driving, it is worth seeing the castle from the 12th century and two, not much younger churches. Although the route is long, it is on a smooth surface. An interesting route not only for railway enthusiasts is a bicycle path leading along the route of the former narrow-gauge railway. It is best to bring the bikes to Buk and leave the car here. Then you can go to the German side (so it's worth having some documents with you). Passing Blankensee, you go to Pampow, Grühof and Glashütte, then to Hintersee. And only at this point begins the real cycle route, which leads along the embankment of the funicular. The route is 6 km long, and the places of the former railway stations are marked along the way. The trip ends at Lake Nowowarpieńskie. There you can take a bath and lie on the beach. Going both ways, we will cover about 46 km. Dobieszczyńska Loop - the route starts from the Głębokie Lake towards Pilchów. On the way, you pass a neo-Romanesque church with a stylish wooden belfry. Tanowo is 8 km further, and Dobieszczyna 10 km further. It is a route with little traffic, and part of a fairly good road goes through pine forests. You can also reach Stolec with a beautiful palace and a park where the oldest yew "" Barnim "in the region grows. Further, you can get to Buk with a granite church from the 13th century. The entire route is approximately 44 km. The trip to the dendrological garden in Glinna begins in Podjuchy. You can leave your car at Smocza Street. First, you drive along an asphalt road through the forests of the Bukowa Primeval Forest until you reach Kołów after 8 km. On the way, you pass a gloomy forest flooded with green water, and the end of the route is mainly cobblestones. However, the dendrological garden in Glinna is full of exotic plants due to its specific climate. There are magnolias and over 300 species and varieties of trees and shrubs here. On site you can eat and relax. The entire route is approximately 34 km if we go back the same road.
